Mendes started his career with hometown club Vitória de Guimarães, before he moved to FC Porto for a season, where he won the Champions League. A season later he moved to England and enjoyed spells with Tottenham and Portsmouth. In August 2008, Mendes signed for Rangers for a fee of around £3million, where he won the League and Cup double in his debut season in Scotland.

[edit] Football Manager 2010

Mendes' best position is in central midfield, and he is perfect for this position as he has high passing, long shots and first touch attributes. Mendes is considered a good player at Rangers, and plays well along side Steven Davis in the middle of the park. One weakness that Mendes has is that he is poor in the air.
