Background

Thomas Vermaelen is a centre back who plays for Arsenal in the English Premiership. He began his career at Ajax before moving to Arsenal in 2009 for a fee of around €10m, which may eventually rise to €12m depending on appearances. Vermaelen made his Premiership debut in a 6-1 victory over Everton in which the Belgiun defender bagged himself a goal.

Vermaelen is a decent centre half but at 182cm he's not the tallest. His defensive stats are all okay but could be better, as none of them are higher than 15 at the start of the game apart from tackling. Especially as he's playing at the top level in Europe and challenging for the title.
