[edit] Club Information
Swansea City were formed in 1912, and have played at the Vetch Field stadium all of their history, until they moved in 2005 to a 20,000 capacity Liberty Stadium. The 80's were the Welsh club's most successful years, then manager John Toshak took Swansea to the top flight, for the first time in the clubs history. In their first season in the First Division, Swansea finished an incredible 6th, and were even higher for large parts of the year. After the huge rise, though, came the inevitable fall, and since the eighties, Swansea have been declined to the lower leagues. This was until the 2007/08 season, when Roberto Martinez, took Swansea to the Championship, after winning league 1. despite being in the English football league, Swansea is in Wales, and this means they have been elagible for the Welsh Cup, which they have won a total of 9 times, the most recent being in 1991.
