Club Information

Founded in 1906 Sporting are the third most successful club in Portugal and have won the league on 18 occasions and the portuguese cup 19 times. They have never won a cup in European football although the were runners up in the UEFA Cup in 2005. The play at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Squad

Goalkeepers

Rui Patricio - A goalkeeper with a good future ahead of him, you should loan him out for experience.

Vladimir Stojkovic - Best goalkeeper in the squad and at 23 he should be your goalkeeper for a while.

Tiago - A decent keeper but should be sold as there is better in the squad.

Ricardo Batista - Just signed for Sporting but isnt that great to be honest and will only be backup at most.

Defenders

Perdro Silva - A very attacking rightback that has really good dribbling and crossing ability.

Leandro Grimi - This young Argentine has the potential to be your first choice leftback for many years.

Ronny - At 21 he has the potential to be great and should break into your first team to parnter Polga.

Marco Caneira - Very versatile player, can play all across the defense so can be vital throughout the season.

Anderson Polga - Vice-captian of the club, heading are his strong point and he should be first choice in the defense.

Tonel - The second best centreback in the squad but you should sign a replacement as he isn't near the quality of Polga.

Abel - Backup rightback to Perdro Silva or Caneira, could be sold for around £1M

Midfielders

Adrien - Young midfielder that has a bright future ahead of him, i would loan him out as he wont get much football with Veloso and Moutinho in the team.

Simon Vukcevic - A quality attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing, he has got great dribbling and a great shot from long range.

Miguel Veloso - Excellent player that can play at centre back but plays best in the midfield, will be a key player for the team if you can keep him.

Bruno Pereirinha - Only 20 and should be loaned out for first team experience.

Fabio Rochemback - Never reached his potential when he joined Barcelona but is still a good player, although not as good as Veloso and Moutinho.

Joao Moutinho - Captian of the club at such a young age, his mental attributes are immense.

Leandro Romagnoli - 2 strong feet and has good ability from set pieces.

Attackers

Derlei - He has got good pace for a 33 year old, probably his last season at the club.

Rodrigo Tiui - A decent player but at 22 he can improve but i would sell him.

Helder Postiga - Great allround striker, will get you alot of goals throughout the season.

Liedson - Best striker in the squad but you will have to fight hard to keep hold of him because plenty of clubs will be interested

Yannick Djalo - Young striker for the future, he has good pace and decent finishing ability.
