General Information

The S.F.L Second Division is the third tier of Scottish Football. It was founded in 1893. The Second Division holds ten teams. Each teams play every other team four times with three points for a victory and one point each for a drawn game, resulting in 36 matches for each team. In the event of two teams finishing with the same number of points, the respective teams' position is decided on goal difference. If goal difference is equal too, the team who has scored the most goals is placed higher. The team at 1st place at the end of the season wins promotion to the Scottish First Division, with 2nd-4th place playing in a play-off with the club that came 9th in the Scottish First Division. The bottom Placed team is Relegated, and the second bottom placed plays in a play-off with 2nd - 4th placed in the Scottish Third Division.
