General Information
The Scottish Football League First Division, or the S.F.L first Division, it the second tier of Scottish Football. Irn Bru sponsor this league so it is reffered to as the Irn-Bru Division 1. There has been a proposal that this division should break away and form a new premiership, but this is at an early stage, and is unlikely to happen. The teams play each other 4 times, with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. This League has been Exsistent since 1893, where it was then the highest tier of Scottish Football. The first ever winners were Hibernian, when it was the highest tier, nobody ever won it more than twice in a row.
League Structure
The Irn-Bru Division 1 plays host to ten teams. At the end of each season, the champions win promotion to the Scottish Premier League The bottom club is relegated into the Scottish Second Division. The second to bottom club enters a play-off with 2nd-4th placed clubs from division two for the right to stay up.
