Sami Hyypia is a centre-back that plays for the Finnish National side and Liverpool. He has played for his club team for a decade, and has earnt legendary status there. He has also featured many times for Finland, and is only 3 International Caps away from having made 100 appearances. He will leave Liverpool in the Summer to join German side Bayer Leverkusen on a 2-year deal.

[edit] Strengths

Despite being an aging defender, Hyypia still has some very good stats, that make him a great back-up and experienced player to have for Liverpool or another top team. His Marking and Tackling are both above 15, but it is mentally where he holds his most impressive attributes. These are: Determination (18), Influence (18), Composure (17), Bravery (16) and Positioning (17). He also is excellent in some Physical areas, like Strength (17), Balance (18) and Jumping (17).

[edit] Weaknesses

Obviously with Hyypia now being 35 (both on the game and in real-life), his Pace (7) and Acceleration (6) are ever-decreasing, and will only get worse as time goes by. His Passing (10) and First-Touch (10) are poor too, and this could cause problems if for example he makes a sloppy pass to the oppositions' striker. His Work Rate (11) isn't the greatest too, however I believe it should be much higher.

[edit] Conclusion

Hyypia will certainly make a good back-up for at least a season at Liverpool or any other club, maybe even being a first choice player. He can be relied upon, but I would not start him every game. Another benefit is Hyypia usually wants to become a coach when he retires from playing Football, so if his managerial stats are good enough, he could be signed as an addition to staff.
