Club Information

Middlesbrough were founded in 1876 and currently play in the Championship after recently getting relegated from the Premiership after 11 successive seasons in the top flight. In 2004 Middlesbrough won their first ever trophy, defeating Bolton 2-1 in the Carling Cup final and achieving European Football also, in 2006 Middlesbrough appeared in the UEFA Cup Final where they were defeated 4-0 by Sevilla. In October 2009 manager Gareth Southgate was sacked due to lack of support from the team and supporters, later in the week Gordon Strachan was announced as the new manager of Middlesbrough. The club play their games at the Riverside Stadium, which holds over 35,000 fans however the team are known not to fill the ground with average attendances being at the 25,000 mark.
