Hulk was born in Campina Grande, Paraíba. After taking his professional job with Esporte Clube Vitória in his homeland, he emigrated to Japan. There, he played in three clubs in quick succession: Kawasaki Frontale, Consadole Sapporo, and Tokyo Verdy 1969, racking up an impressive goals-to-games ratio, especially at the latter. After his stay in Japan, Hulk moved to Portugal to play for defending champions F.C. Porto.
At Porto he has built a great reputation. Scoring goals in Liga Sagres and in Porto's Champions League campaigns, Hulk is one of the best players at the club. This has been recognised by earning a number of caps for his country Brazil. Hulk has had controversy however, and had received a ban after a tunnel bust-up against rivals Benfica. He was scheduled to be banned for four months, but this was dropped to only four matches. Hulk now continues to play for Porto but is attracting attention from other clubs around Europe.
Hulk is already a good player from the start of the game on FM2010, but whether his fee matches his skill is another thing. I was very fortunate on my Ajax game to get him for £11m, as he was transfer listed by request. However on the Forums I have seen people saying he has cost £20m, £27m and even £44m. For these prices, you really need to take in to consideration how vital he will be to you. At Ajax I knew Hulk would be my key player (note I had sold Suarez), but if he is going to be rotated or a back-up, then maybe he might not be worth signing.
Physically, he is a beast. He is quick (Pace 17), strong (Strength 18) and has good fitness (Stamina 15), making him a very powerful and explosive player. Being 6'0, Hulk will definitely be able to hold off defenders. Technically his best stats are his Long Shots (18) and his Free Kick taking (16). His Finishing is also good (15), but Hulk does have some very poor attributes, mostly in the Mental area. His Composure (9) is horrible for a striker to have. Composure is his ability to remain calm under pressure and do well, which in a forwards case is to bury an one-on-one for example. In comparison to Fernando Torres, whose composure is 16, there is a big difference. This can affect your team if Hulk continues to bottle it with big chances. His Work Rate and Teamwork (both 10) are weak also, this could result in Hulk not trying for the team and being selfish.
You really need to weigh out the pros and cons of Hulk before signing him (or playing him, if you are Porto). What you are getting is a raw player who will bustle the defence about, but on the other hand you may get a selfish, lazy footballer who might not get as many goals as you want or need.
