History
Formed in 1879, Doncaster Rovers have seen a lot of success in recent years. The Championship side were in the Blue Square Premier just 6 years ago. Promotion on the 10th may 2003 saw 'Donny' enter the Football League. It took them just one season to win promotion again, as they were crowned the, what was then, Division Three Champions. This meant Doncaster were the last team to win Division Three before it changed to Coca cola League Two. On new years day, 2007, Doncaster played their first game in their new stadium, Keepmoat Stadium. In the 07/08 season, Doncaster beat Leeds United, the favourites to go up, in the play-off final. Doncaster had finally returned to the Coca Cola Championship, for the first time in 50 years. Many football fans may remewmber what was to be a great Carling Cup run for Doncaster. They beat Manchester City and Aston Villa on penalties to progress to the quater finals. They managed to take Arsenal all the way to penalties, but they narrowly lost, with Gilberto Silva scoring the winning penalty. Their manager is Sean O'Driscoll, the former A.F.C Bournemouth boss.
