Background

David Beckham is an English footballer who plays for LA Galaxy in the MLS (Major Soccor League in America). Beckham's career began when he signed a professional contract with Manchester United, making his debut in 1992. He left Manchester United to sign for Real Madrid in 2003, where he remained for four seasons. In January 2007 in left Madrid and sign a five-year contract with Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy worth around $6.5 million a year. Beckham made his first appearance for the England national football team on 1 September 1996. He has since won 115 caps for England making him the nation's most capped outfield player.

Strengths

Beckham is a gifted Midfielder able to play killer balls into the strikers on FM2010. He has a natural talent for set pieces and if used correctly can score between 8-15 goals a season from free kicks and penaltied alone. His crossing stat is also very high, indicating that he can produce brilliant crossers into the box for tall forwards to get on the end of. Using him in my current Liverpool team, I have set his personal instructions to drill the ball into the box often and has so far picked up 5 assists in his first 8 games for the club. I personally prefer to use him on the right of midfield, allowing him to deliver his deadly crosses into the box. I have also placed him to take corners which has allowed my team to score many goals from headers by using the Corner Tactic.

Weaknesses

As he is the wrong side of 30, his physical stats have begun to decline, although his stamina and natural fitness remain decent enough for him to play a whole 90 mintues without getting fatuiged.

Conclusion

David is a great buy for any side in the game, even clubs that are at the top end of their respectve division. He seems to be willing to go to most clubs, although I believe the clubs reputation must be high enough for him to want a move there. He can also be picked up at a very reasonable price of around £1 million at the start of the game. If you are playing as England, I recommend you use Beckham as either a player on the right side of a 4 man midfield or to use as an impact sub when other right sided midfielders (Walcott, Bently, Wright-Phillips) are just not producing the goods.
