DJ (Dudley Junior) Campbell is a 28 year-old English striker who is currently on-loan at Blackpool from Leicester City. It is his second loan spell at the Championship club after an impressive 08-09 season, in which he found the back of the net 9 times in 20 games for The Seasiders.
He has played for the England C team, aswell as having Premiership experience with Birmingham City. Birmingham signed DJ from League One Brentford for a fee of £500,000 after having an impressive season, which inclusing a brace in a 2-1 win over Premier League outfit Sunderland.
July 2007 saw Campbell move to Leicester City for a fee of £1.6million, which could further rise to £2.1million. However, this move turned out to be a flop as Campbell could only manage 4 goals in 38 league games for Leicester, and struggle to break into the first team, even though they were in League 1. He then moved to Blackpool on loan for his first spell, who were in the Championship, and manager to notch up 9 goals in 20 games.
The 09-10 season saw rumours of moves to QPR, Coventry, and Blackpool, but nothing materialised and DJ secured a loan move to Derby County after not being able to fix down a first-team place at Leicester. During this spell he manager 3 goals in 8 games, which included a double against Peterborough United and a late equaliser against West Brom in a 2-2 draw.
He returned back to Leicester at the start of January, and on 1st February Blackpool secured the signing of DJ Campbell on loan until the end of the season. This is his second spell at Bloomfield Road, and he described the move as 'fate', and said it was 'great to be back' after making his second debut in a tangerine shirt during a 3-2 loss to West Brom.
