Background Information
The Blue Square North was formed in 2004 as part of a restructuring process to English non-league football. It is the 6th tier in English football, below the Blue Square Premier and is on the same tier as the Blue Square South. Alongisde the Blue Square South it is the lowest playable English league in Football Manager. The difficulty in managing in the BSN comes from, generally, not knowing the players in your squad, the players who are willing to join you, or your transfer targets and the poor financial stature of most clubs. However, with that said, it can be a very enjoyable and satisfying game.
League Structure
22 teams participate in the BSN. Each team plays each other twice, meaning their are 42 matches in a season. Games take place August to May. The champions are promoted to the Blue Square Premier, while the 2nd to 5th places teams battle it out in the Play-Offs for the second promotional place to the Blue Square Premier. The bottom 3 teams are relegated to the Northern Premier League Premier Division or the Southern League Premier Division. You receive 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for losing.
