 Club Information
A club based in Lisbon and founded in 1904, Benfica is the most successful club in portuguese football winning the league 31 times and the portuguese cup 24 times. They have won the Champions League on two occasions in 1961 and 1962. They play in the Estadio da Luz, translated into English means The Stadium of Light.
Quim - This experienced goalkeeper can provide good backup to Moreira but you will need to find a replacement soon.
Moreira - The best goalkeeper in the squad and at just the age of 25 he will be your keeper for many years to come.
Leo - Now 32 so he is approaching the end of his career in football and you will have to find a replacement soon.
Ayrton - A young Brazilian left back that could possibly be the replacement for Leo but i dont think he will be ready for first team football anytime soon.
Luisao - Vice-captian at the club, this guy will be a key player at the heart of your defense. With 32 Brazilian caps to his name you will find it tough to keep hold of him with plenty of clubs interested in signing him.
Zoro - This Ivory Coast international is a good squad player that can play well in the first team when needed but will also sit on the bench and wont complain.
David Luiz - Is a young Brazilian with a bright future ahead of him, he can definitely parnter Luisao in the centre of defense and has the potential to become even better than Luisao.
Edcarlos - Another one of the Brazilians in the squad, Edcarlos is a good player but probably wont break up the Luisao and David Luiz partnership.
Luis Filipe - The only natural right-back in the squad, can defend and attack well. He can also play right midfield aswell if needed.
Sidnei - Isn't ready for first team football at Benfica yet, if you loan him out for a few seasons he has the potential to be a world class player
Maximiliano Pereira - A quality Uruguayan that can play in many posistions but plays best at denfensive midfield. A good allround player
Binya - A battling midfielder that has excellent workrate and isn't scared to tackle, this was shown with his tackle on Scott Brown in the Champions League.
Hassan Yebda - A good squad player that probably wont get better than he already is.
Demel - A young midfielder that has good potential but wont be as good as players like Martins and Pereira.
Kostas Katsouranis - Greek international that can defend as well as he can attack, he will play a key role in your midfield.
Carlos Martins - Recently signed for Benfica, he has excellent passing, creativity and long shots. He is also good from set piece situations.
Javier Angel Balboa - Signed from Real Madrid, with his crossing ability he can pick out players in the box with ease.
Paulo Jorge - Decent right winger but there is better players in the squad than him.
Pablo Aimar - With his creativity, dribbling, passing and technique if he plays well you will create alot of chances.
Angel Di Maria - Possibly not ready for first team football so i would loan him out and he will be a star of the future
David Suazo - On loan from Inter Milan he can play all across the midfield but plays best as a striker, if you get your tactics right and make most of his pace he will get you goals.
Jose Antonio Reyes - He never really reached his full potential at Arsenal, but when he plays well he is a quality player on the wing and upfront.
Nuno Gomes - Captian of the club, he has scored 113 in 253 appearances, now at 32 you will probably only get 2 or 3 season out of him.
Oscar Cardozo - The best striker in the squad, a good target man that can finish as well as he can head. Dont expect him to get in behind defenses with his pace
Ariza Makakula - A hit and miss player but when he is on form is great, he can outmuscle most defenders.
Mantorras - A striker that has pace and can finish, but probably not as good as Cardozo and Suazo.
