AFC Ajax are a football club Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. Ajax play in the Dutch Eredivisie, of which they are one of the strongest teams, winning the league on 29 occasions. They have also won the KNVB cup 17 times with their most recent success coming in the 2006-07 season. They were very successful in the 1970s with the likes of Johan Cruijff playing for them. They have played their home matches at the Amsterdam ArenA since 1996, which is a recent stadium to be built in comparison to other major clubs.
[edit] Football Manager 2009 (9.0.3 Patch)
At the start of the game, the budget is £4.54m, with your wage budget standing at £422K P/W. There is the expectation of winning the league, and you have no chance to change that for a lesser choice, so these are your budgets that can't be changed at the start.

[edit] Transfer/Team Advice
First off, I would move Leonardo and van der Wiel up to the first team. Leonardo, all be it has some very weak stats, also has some great ones, such as his Dribbling, First Touch and Technique. From past games with Ajax, he always is a nice player to have, be it on your bench or even using him as a first team player. He'll get you goals and assists. van der Wiel is a budding right back, and is consistent, something you'll need in this team. I'd recommend getting rid of Siem de Jong, Evander Sno, Oleguer, Bruno Silva and Dennis Gentenaar. These will get you some cash in and can be used for a big signing, a forward for example. All those players are fringe type and are not going to compete with some of your other players you already have.
Do your upmost to get rid of Albert Luque and Dennis Rommedahl as soon as when they return from their loans, as they will eat into your Wage Budget, with them taking over £55,000 of it! You may want to consider getting rid of others like Edgar Manucharyan and Toby Alderweireld, but they are quite young and can develop a bit, so it is in personal choice. As for signings, try to look at Artem Milevskyi, a forward from Dinamo Kiev. He will dominate in the Eredivisie and would be a sure guarentee to fire in at least 20+ goals a season. Stephen Appiah maybe a freebie to look at, as Ajax's central midfield isn't the strongest, with Enoh needing time to improve and Gabri coming to his later years. However if you can raise the cash, Fernando Gago should normally be on the transfer list, at £6m. Now, if you can, this would be an immense signing. He will want to join but you will have to compete against some other major clubs also interested in his signature.
You will definately need a centre back if you choose to sell Silva or/and Oleguer, as you will need some depth to go along with the two V's, Vermaelen and Vertonghen. My choice for the budget at the start of the game would be Jonny Magallon, from Club Deportivo in Mexico. He is a good all rounder possessing some nice physical and defensive stats. A couple of loan signings may be a good way to not dip into your finances too much, with Emiliano Insúa from Liverpool being a fine choice. He would act as cover for Emanuelson, and would develop into a much improved player if you signed him for the season, which could leave you to snap him up permanently.
Be aware that your wage budget is very close, with you only being £600 under, so you may need to sell to buy, unless you want to stretch your budget by using some of your transfer kitty, or trying the luck of asking the board.
